GYROCOMPASS
YDK CMZ900S

Gyrocompass detects the ship’s heading.

It detects the direction of true north by using a fast-spinning rotor, which is influenced by gravity and rotation of the Earth, and detects ship’s heading. The heading indicated by the gyrocompass is transmitted to receiving devices, including the repeater compass. The ship’s heading is transmitted to repeater compasses and other ship’s equipment after the signal format is converted to serial data or to stepper or analog signals depending on what type of format the equipment requires. The CMZ900 series gyrocompass provides the following three types of gyrocompass system:

  • CMZ900S: Using single gyrocompass, it is suitable for general merchant vessels
  • CMZ900B (B2): a standalone gyrocompass for small merchant vessels
  • CMZ900D: Using dual gyrocompass, it is suitable for general merchant vessels
Product Information
Description

  • Easily adaptable system configuration to meet each vessel’s specifications
  • Supports IEC 61162-2 high-speed code for accurate heading and rate of turn (ROT) outputs
  • Unique anti-vibration system, enhanced by high viscous oil damping, provides superior vibration suppression and shock decoupling at sea
  • Compact and lightweight design enhances follow-up speed, ensuring smooth course adjustments, especially during rapid course changes
  • Space-saving installation: the master compass and control box can be conveniently mounted on the autopilot stand
  • Automatic speed error correction available when the ship’s speed signal from the log and latitude signal from GPS (or other positioning device) are present. In the absence of a positioning device, latitude can be estimated from the ship’s speed and gyrocompass readings
  • External heading signals from instruments such as a magnetic compass or GPS compass can be transmitted to repeater compasses and other ship systems for backup purposes
  • Standard built-in monitor detects deviations between the master compass and external sensor readings
  • Preset restart time between 1 and 99 hours
