Netwave VDR Data Architecture

Compliant with MSC 333(90)

The Netwave NW-6000 VDR boasts a versatile, space-efficient design, adaptable for installation in a 19″ rack or bulkhead-mounted casing. Its compact form allows for easy integration within a navigation console or placement on any flat surface. Thanks to Power-Over-Ethernet (PoE) technology, the system significantly reduces the complexity of cabling, resulting in faster and more economical installations.

Unlike most VDR systems, the NW-6000’s architecture relies on a single Ethernet cable for both power and data transmission, cutting cabling costs by up to 50%. This makes it a cost-effective choice for both new builds and retrofitting older systems.

Core Components of the Netwave VDR System:

  • NW-6860-1000 Fixed Capsule: Durable, stainless steel housing that stores 48 hours of data with built-in autonomous operation via a single Ethernet connection.

  • NW-6880 Float-free Capsule: Partnered with Jotron for maximum reliability, ensuring secure recording even in emergency float-free scenarios.

  • NW-6010 Bridge Control Unit: User-friendly, touch-screen interface that provides instant access to VDR functions and diagnostics.

  • NW-6000 Core Module: Designed for scalability, this module serves as the central hub with 12 Ethernet ports, offering seamless plug-and-play connectivity.

  • NW-64xx Data Acquisition Unit: This DIN-rail mounted interface connects the core to multiple serial, digital, and analog adaptors, simplifying data acquisition across the ship.

  • NW-6020 PoE Microphones: Daisy-chainable microphones ensure compliance with MSC.333(90) by recording on separate channels, using a single cable connection.

Advanced Features:

  • Remote Monitoring: Real-time system diagnostics and performance data accessible from any remote location, offering secure, password-protected insights without crew interference.

  • Camera Monitoring & Live Replay: Optional integration with onboard camera systems enables video recording and instant playback, providing ship management with real-time visual data.

The Netwave NW-6000 is an innovative solution that not only reduces installation costs but also enhances the vessel’s operational transparency with tools for monitoring and improving performance.
