As part of their comprehensive decarbonization strategy, Berge Bulk displayed commendable environmental responsibility, innovation, and energy saving initiative by investing in, WindWings, a retrofit wind-assisted propulsion superstructure on the vessel Berge Olympus. However, this retrofit came with a challenge: a significant blind sector obstructing navigation.

We approached this challenge enthusiastically by proposing a radar signal merging function to solve the blind sector issue by integrating signals from various scanners positioned in different locations onboard, resulting in a perfect 360° radar picture (and view) on both X-band and S-band radars. The merging of radar signals was also perfect and remained flawless at any desired angle.

Our experienced senior engineers ensured that all key features of the existing conning system were retained throughout the process.

At Hostmost, our core values of passion, professionalism, reliability, quality, and integrity drive us to find seamless solutions.

World's First Wind Powered Cargo Ship Sets Sail with Giant Metal Wings
Shipping manufacturers are creating eco-friendly ships to compete with traditional fuel-powered ones. The Berge Olympus is a notable example. The Pyxis Ocean, equipped with WindWings sails to reduce fuel consumption and carbon footprint, recently embarked on its maiden voyage.

This retrofit presented a navigation challenge due to a significant blind sector. Hostmost Group addressed this by integrating radar signals from various scanners to provide a flawless 360° radar view on both X-band and S-band radars, ensuring comprehensive navigation without blind spots.
